Through Their Eyes

Published On April 28, 2025

VBS leaves a life-long impact that Brandy experienced in her own life, reflecting “I still remember attending VBS as a child and how it gave me a foundation for my faith at a very young age. When I think about that, it encourages me to want to have that same impact on other young children.”

Brandy began volunteering at VBS when her children were in elementary school. Since then, her children have grown into adulthood, but Brandy still loves to volunteer at VBS each year. She shares of her experience, “Seeing God through the eyes of the kids at VBS is a good reminder which helps to foster and deepen my relationship with him.”

Surrounded by construction paper clippings and dusted in glitter, Brandy gets to use crafts to tell kids about God’s love for them. She says, “Sharing your faith with children during VBS week is about how God’s love is available to us all through a personal relationship with him. We don’t over complicate it.” Whether this is their hundredth time hearing the Gospel or their very first, activities like crafts, recreation, and music all help to communicate God’s love in ways each child can understand, no matter their background.

From fifth-graders to third-thirders, everyone can volunteer to be a part of this special week. Brandy shares, “Volunteering for VBS is a very fulfilling and rewarding experience. You can make an impact by providing that faith foundation, for the kids who may not otherwise receive it.”
