Sunday Classes

On Sunday mornings we have communities for every age and stage of life. In each class you will find rich fellowship and teaching of God’s Word. We grow better together, so come join a class on any given Sunday. Find the class right for you in the section below.

9:45 am – Hunt Center, Room K

Class Leader: Marley Culp

Class Mission: Learning and Fellowship among the HP Pres Young Adult community.

Who Attends: Young Adults in their 20s and 30s, specifically post-college-aged and older. Average attendance 25.

Class Structure: Limited lecture, mostly small group breakout discussions of the same passage from the morning’s sermon.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Room J

Class Leader: Justin & Ashley Sink

Class Mission: The mission of the Vine class is to foster community and spiritual growth in this stage of life as we dig into God’s Word together and learn to abide in Jesus, the Vine. This semester we will go through several topic-based series, beginning with the Armor of God.

Who Attends: Anyone interested in growing their faith in community, whether single or married. Most participants are between 40-55 years old, but the class is open to all.

Class Structure: The class begins with 10-15 minutes of fellowship, followed by 25-30 minutes of guided discussion by a facilitator.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Room H

Class Leader: Melissa Thornton

Class Mission: Our class is a community of Christian adults who lead and support one another through the Journey of life by studying the Bible and praying together. We also have various social events throughout the year.

Who Attends: The Journey class consists of those in their late 50-60s

Class Structure: Class begins with 15 minutes of announcements and prayer, followed by 45 minutes of teaching and discussion.

9:15 am – Hunt Center, Room I

Class Leader: A rotating team of 4 teachers, Kirsten Garwood class coordinator

Class Mission: To study God’s Word, apply it in our daily lives, and to support the members of our class in their walk with the Lord.

Who Attends: Couples and singles; Some members have children in college or beyond and are becoming grandparents.

Class Structure: We begin each class with prayer requests and praises, followed by 40-45 minutes of teaching with class discussion. Average attendance 25-30.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Room B

Class Leaders: T. Hardie, Anne Compton

Class Mission: Our Goal is to foster community through our small group discussions and to witness the continuing Acts of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the lives of others.

Who Attends: Primarily 60s through 80s; couples and singles.

Class Structure: Class begins with announcements, opening prayer with prayer requests. T.Hardie then leads discussion of a book study using questions circulated in advance. Books studied are written by well-known authors including Tim Keller, Eugene Peterson, N.T. Wright, Christopher Wright, and others. Class size ranges between 30-35.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Room A

Class Leader: Jane Matthiesen, Andy Raub

Class Mission: Through Bible study, fellowship, and prayer, our class seeks to make Biblical wisdom a key part of our daily living.

Who Attends: Our class is primarily made up of empty-nesters and retirees. Average attendance 50.

Class Structure: The class begins with 10-15 minutes of conversation and prayer, followed by 40-45 minutes of teaching.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Room C

Class Leader: Principal teacher, Walter Gast and other instructors.

Class Mission: The Disciples Class is a community of believers devoted to the study and discussion of Scripture, fellowship and mutual care, and celebration of the Christian life.

Who Attends: The Disciples Class is a multi-generational, warm and welcoming, community of disciples with historical roots at HP Pres, reaching back many years.

Class Structure: Class begins with a brief welcome and announcements, an opening prayer and lesson, followed by a time of fellowship.

9:30 am – Hunt Center, Volunteer Room

Class Leader: David Atwell, Brad Popkin

Class Mission: The mission of the Family Life Class is to explore Life Lessons for daily application and exhortation to all members to read, study, meditate and pray upon the Word.

Who Attends: Empty Nesters (singles and couples) from mid 50’s and up.

Class Structure: Class begins with 10-15 minutes of conversation and prayer, followed by 40-45 minutes of teaching.
