Through Every Season
In this phase of her life, Carla is hungry to learn and grow alongside other Christ-followers. At the invitation of her friends, she decided to participate in the Flourishing in the Third Third course. The teaching and discussion on building relationships, gratitude, and working on your physical and cognitive health later in life gave her a fresh perspective on how to navigate this new season. She shares, “It brought to my awareness how important those things are, and I started to think a lot more about being intentional in those areas.”
Faithfully navigating the transitions of being an empty nester, retirement, and cognitive and physical changes requires a plan. The Flourishing in the Third Third course equipped Carla to feel prepared for the changes still to come in her life. She shares, “I encourage people not to wait. If you don’t think you’re at that point yet, you will be one day. Take advantage of the opportunity to learn.”
It is important to continue growing in our relationship with God and others, regardless of our life stage. The Flourishing in the Third Third course offers people a chance to develop a plan for the next phase of their life, but more importantly, it is a place for people to grow in their faith. Carla shares that being around other Christ-followers in her same life stage, “strengthens my faith and makes me realize that I’m not in this alone.”
Finding purpose in every season of life takes effort. The first step is just showing up for yourself, family, friends, and fellow Christians. Carla shares, “It would be so easy to stay at home and watch the service alone, but you don’t build relationships that way. You get so much more out of church when you come to church in person.”
Life does not necessarily slow down with age. God is still at work, using people from every generation to share his love with this world. If you are looking for purpose in the Third Third of your life, consider joining us on Sunday evenings in the Flourishing in the Third Third course.
