Known and Loved

Published On October 21, 2024

Over the past few months of leading their Community Group, Jonathan and Christy have experienced a rich connection with God and his people. They didn’t plan to facilitate initially, but they both left their first Community Group launch in 2023 feeling like it was the right next step for them. Jonathan shares that, through their Community Group, “God showed me how much his Holy Spirit can do when someone is open to his leadership.”

We are wired with the need for people who will walk hand-in-hand with us through the highs and lows of life. While they meet, Jonathan and Christy’s Community Group prays for each other and dives deep into God’s word. They want the group to be a safe place for people to open up, so they lead with their own vulnerability. Jonathan shares that “It really challenges me because it reveals those things in my own life that God is calling me to work on.”

It can feel daunting to share our struggles and successes with other Christ-followers, but our authenticity is what leads to real change in our lives. Christy shares that their group is “A place where you can go to be fully known and fully loved. It’s one of the few places you can go in the world and have nothing to prove.”

Community is something we all crave and doesn’t need to be complicated. Acts 2:42 teaches us that Jesus’ disciples found community when “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Go to hppres.org/groups to find your community.
