No Task Too Small
Each spring break, a group of families choose to stay in Dallas for one purpose. Among that group are Spence, Brittany, and their three young daughters. For years, they have been using the break to participate in the Dallas Family Mission trip. Joining other HP Pres families, they have helped clean up neighborhoods in South Dallas, packed meals with Dallas Leadership Foundation, and assembled Easter baskets for kids in the welfare system with Community Partners of Dallas. Brittany shares, “There is such a need in our own backyard for us to love others. We don’t have to go far away to share God’s love.”
Growing in up Dallas, both Spence and Brittany have a deep love for their city. As their family has grown, they’ve been intentional about passing that love on to their children. Spence shares of the Dallas Family Mission Trip, “I love what it teaches my children. It gives them perspective and gives them a chance to see how they’re called to represent God’s love.”
As they’ve served on the Dallas Family Mission trip, Spence and Brittany have connected with other families at HP Pres. Many of these connections have developed into valuable friendships for their family. Brittany shares, “We’re surrounded by so many people who remind us that we’re not here to serve ourselves.”
Over the years, their children have chosen to pray for the people they’ve served on the mission trip. Witnessing their kids comprehend how meaningful a box of food or a community garden can be for people has helped Spence and Brittany grow in their own faith. Spence shares, “It’s given me great perspective and reminded me that God has charged me to utilize the gifts he’s blessed me with to represent his love.”
No child is too young, and no task is too small to share God’s love. You can register for the Dallas Family Mission Trip on March 17-19 at hppres.org/serve-our-city.
