Worth the Risk

Published On August 31, 2025

Prayer is more than a whispered request or a quick blessing—it’s the heartbeat of our relationship with God. It’s how we bring our burdens, our praise, and our questions to Him. And it’s also how we learn to listen to His still, small voice.

Karen Pou knows this firsthand. After participating in the Teach Me to Pray course, she says her walk with Christ has deepened in unexpected ways: “I’m seeing prayers being answered. I see the hand of God more in my daily life because I’m more aware of how He is moving.”

Prayer is an open dialogue with our Father in heaven, which means that it isn’t just a one-way street. In a world filled with noise and responsibilities, one of the greatest things we can do is learn how to listen to the voice of God, guiding us and holding us through the chaos.

That’s what this course offers: practical lessons on different types of prayer, real-life examples, and encouragement to put it all into practice. Karen says, “When you’re willing to experiment and get out of your comfort zone, you see that the Holy Spirit is so powerful and with you always.”

This Fall, the Teach Me to Pray course begins Tuesday, Sept. 9 and invites beginners to seasoned believers to connect with God in fresh, exciting ways by hearing the voice of God, praying using the authority of Jesus, and experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit. You do not have to be an HP Pres member to participate.
