Everyday Ministry

Published On September 7, 2025

As a summer intern, Fiona helped lead the 5th & 6th grade ministry, built meaningful friendships, and learned that everyday tasks can be a part of ministry. After hearing about the internship from her youth pastor, she was intrigued by the thought of working at a church over the summer. She shares “I have always been in ministry in some type of way, but I never put the name ‘ministry’ to it until now. I learned through this internship that we don’t have to forsake our interests to do ministry. I can do ministry in anything.”

Throughout the summer, interns were a vibrant addition to the kids and student ministries, bringing their excitement and curiosity into every task they were given. While pouring their hearts into the next generation, the interns also participated in weekly Bible studies that helped equip them to lead in their areas of ministry. Fiona shares that one of her favorite parts of the internship was being taught about deep theological topics and being encouraged to dive deeper in her faith. She says of her experience, “To be in an environment where I woke up every day and was surrounded by people who are following Jesus helped me grow so much. It taught me that everything we do is for a greater purpose.”

While there were many big, impactful moments from the internship, including VBS, the 5th & 6th mission trip, and the intern retreat, Fiona found meaning in day-to-day ministry. She was encouraged by the ordinary moments, sharing “Even a small task like printing paper can have a big impact. You don’t know if that piece of paper with a Bible verse printed on it is one that a student will hold on to.”

Fiona’s time as an intern reinforced her faith, reminding her that God’s love isn’t always shared in the grand mountaintop moments. Sometimes it is the still small voice, the quiet obedience that stands steadfast in an ever-changing world.
