The Foundation at HP Pres Restores God’s Stories in Glass

Have you ever examined the beautiful stained glass windows in our sanctuary and Wynne Chapel? There are a total of 56 windows that were all designed to tell stories about Christ, his people, and his church.

The Old Testament windows focus on central characters such as Adam, Moses, Abraham, David, and Isaiah. The New Testament windows tell many significant stories about the life of Christ including the Nativity, the Crucifixion, the Ascension, the Sermon on the Mount and the Last Supper. Other windows spotlight Jesus’ love for children, various women of the Bible, the Beatitudes, and the importance of domestic and world missions.

To help refurbish these glass treasures and also assist in the restoration and conservation of all our magnificent church buildings, the Mark Lemmon Fund was established at The Foundation at Highland Park Presbyterian in 2019 to honor the esteemed original architect of our church. Over the last several years, this fund has contributed $133,000 to the ongoing repair of our lovely stained glass windows. With the support of the Lemmon Fund and other church resources, these windows will continue to tell God’s story of redemption and hope.

The Foundation at HP Pres funds ministries outside of the annual operating budget of the church and encourages generosity and stewardship through legacy gifting.  Legacy gifting is giving in perpetuity, or “the gift that keeps on giving” even after the donor’s lifetime.

At The Foundation, we are helping people connect their passions and resources with the work God is doing by impacting ministries, both domestically and globally, through annual grants, advised or designated funds, or through a gift to the memorial fund.
