Helping Vulnerable Women & Children
At Highland Park Presbyterian Church, we have been committed to helping those in need for generations. While all of our partnerships and service opportunities across Dallas are working towards reducing poverty, creating safe environments, and educating the marginalized, here are some of the ways that you can be part of our calling to help vulnerable women and children in our city.
Foster Care Closet – Located across the street from Peak Street Church, our Foster Care Closet provides families with foster and adopted kids with equipment, diapers, wipes, clothes, toys, and books, as well as spiritual and emotional encouragement. Volunteers are needed to help at the closet every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 9:30 am–12:30 pm. Let us know if you can help.
Financial Assistance – Working alongside CPS Caseworkers to verify requests, we provide relief to families struggling to keep their families together due to financial pressures. You can help by giving to our City Engagement fund.
Genesis Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter – Domestic violence kills more pregnant women each year than any other cause. Nearly 20% of women experience violence during pregnancy, with pregnant adolescents and women with unintended pregnancies at an increased risk. HP Pres supports the Genesis Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter in its mission to care for the most vulnerable, and you can serve with us at Genesis.
CASA Volunteer Advocate – CASA is a program that trains and pairs volunteers with a child in the foster system until they are reunited with their families or adopted. As a Volunteer Advocate, you can provide hope and support to children in need. You can learn more about the training process and apply online.
Physical Support for Foster Parents – We are currently organizing Meal Trains for foster families, and helping individuals obtain licenses allowing them to babysit for foster families. If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please contact Jade Alsina, Outreach Coordinator, at jade.alsina@hppres.org.
