Where There is Life, There is Purpose
At 92 years old, Ann, affectionately known as “Magic,” is an active member of her community and a passionate Bible teacher. Ann leads a weekly Bible study at the senior living community where she has been a resident for the past twelve years, but her passion for teaching and Biblical literacy far precedes that. With a background in education and a love for God’s Word, Ann has sought out deep connection in Scripture for the majority of her life.
Since becoming a Covenant Partner of HP Pres in 1957, Ann has witnessed God’s faithfulness in our church throughout the decades. From deepening her own understanding of Scripture to teaching Bible studies, Ann has been shaped by the Christ centered community here. She shares, “This is a wonderful church. I love the theology and that there are so many ways for people to be in God’s Word.”
Although life looks different at 92 than it did at 32, Ann is still choosing to utilize her spiritual giftings of teaching and encouragement to bring people closer to God. People can often feel isolated and lonely at senior living communities, so Ann sees their weekly Bible study as a great opportunity for her to invite people into the family of Christ. She shares, “Anyone is welcome. There are people on all levels of Biblical knowledge who attend so we find a nice balance in the teaching.”
God is at work in each of us in different ways. Ann has found purpose in teaching others about God’s Word but encourages people to discover God’s gifting in their own lives. As it says in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”
