Standing in the Gap for Central Texas

Published On July 5, 2025

Church Family,

We are witnessing an unimaginable tragedy unfolding at Camp Mystic and across the Texas Hill Country. Severe flooding has brought devastation to the region, impacting many, including several families from our own church community.

Some families have received heartbreaking news about their daughters. Others are still waiting for word. We mourn with those who mourn.

As the Church, this is our time to lift up the grieving and the waiting, to intercede for the search and rescue teams working tirelessly, and to pray for all those walking through this valley of sorrow.

Many of you have already been praying. I’m deeply grateful. Thank you for being a church that instinctively turns to Christ in moments of crisis. Thank you for attending yesterday’s prayer vigil.

Our Sanctuary will be open today, July 5, until 4 pm as a space for quiet prayer and reflection.

This is a painful and heavy time. Yet, as followers of Jesus, we do not grieve without hope.

Our Savior knows suffering. God is near to the brokenhearted. He is with us now.

As the search continues, our Disaster Relief ministry is mobilizing. If you feel led to support the efforts underway, you can give to our Disaster Relief fund at hppres.org/give.

With you in prayer and grief,

Jay Lee
Executive Pastor
