Jesus In Our City

Published On March 8, 2024

Dylan can often be found alongside his wife and children packing grocery boxes for people experiencing food insecurity in our city. He and other HP Pres volunteers meet every two weeks to partner with Dallas Leadership Foundation (DLF) and Primera Iglesia to pack and distribute around 600 boxes of fresh and shelf stable food for families throughout Dallas. Dylan recalls that his family was excited to serve with DLF when the program began because it “creates such a quality space to have meaningful interactions with our kids about service and purpose.”

Our partnership with DLF began during the first weeks of the Covid pandemic and continues to be very effective in meeting needs across the city during a time in which the need to address food insecurity issues are increasing. During their time serving as a family, Dylan shares that it is “always a great reminder that serving others is close to God’s heart.”

In his earthly ministry, Jesus showed love to people by providing for their physical and spiritual needs. As Christ-followers, we have the opportunity and responsibility to serve the people around us like Jesus did. As we learn in Ephesians 2:10, “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
