Mark and Milton

Iron Sharpens Iron

Published On June 2, 2025

Where do you go to find encouragement, accountability, and authenticity in a world that prioritizes perfection and status? For Milton and Mark, Discipleship Conversations has been a safe place for them to share in each other’s challenges and celebrate each other’s victories.

The two men meet regularly, sharing their questions about faith over coffee, swapping parenting advice over lunch meetings, and connecting over the phone about their joys and concerns. Milton shares, “Our meetings are rich in mutual encouragement and honesty. It has been a blessing to help our wives and children get acquainted and to routinely share prayer requests between families.”

Mark signed up for Discipleship Conversations after his wife shared how much she enjoyed participating in the ministry. He’s now been in two different pairings and shares, “Getting the perspective from Godly men who have already gone down a path that I am currently on has been so helpful. We’re able to have open conversations about our faith and lives which is a huge blessing.”

Despite being in different stages of life, their differences make their mentorship stronger. Discipleship Conversations fosters a mutual trust and respect between the men that allows them to be authentic about their struggles, free of judgement. Milton says of his experience, “It’s not about being a spiritual giant; rather, journeying with a fellow believer to encourage one another on the way.”

The heart of every Discipleship Conversation is to sharpen one another as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). By meeting regularly with the intention of helping each other become better family-members, employees, and people, Mark and Milton are becoming more like Christ.
