Lizzie's Community Group

You Are Not Alone

Published On September 3, 2024

As a young adult, Lizzie was feeling untethered. She grew up attending church but was struggling to find that same sense of community post-college. During the pandemic, her desire for connection was magnified and she knew it was time to find a church where she could grow in her faith alongside people in a similar life stage.

Her family came to HP Pres at the invitation of a close family friend. On her first Sunday, she felt incredibly welcomed and ran into one of her good friends from college. As they caught up, her friend encouraged Lizzie to join a Community Group. She shares that “the timing was so perfect because I had recently felt a calling to prioritize deep faith-centered connection.”

Since then, Lizzie has joined a group and made meaningful relationships with the others in her Community Group. Reflecting on that leap of faith, Lizzie shares, “It was hard to come to the group with serious life issues rather than being happy and lighthearted. I felt like I always had to be that way, but they helped me learn that it’s okay to not be okay.” Finding a safe place to share and people that will keep her accountable in studying God’s Word has helped her grow consistently in her faith.

When she needed it the most, God provided Lizzie with the connection she was craving. Her experience reminds us that, “We’re all dealing with so much and it’s always worse when you feel isolated. It’s important to have people surround you and remind you that you are not alone.”

If you’re feeling untethered, we’d like to invite you to get connected here at HP Pres. Go to hppres.org/find-your-place to find your community.
