Vision 100

Published On July 18, 2024

What is Vision 100?

Vision matters. It matters a lot. In 2016, after months of prayer and reflection, our Elders put forth 5 goals to fulfill the vision of our church: Leading all generations to find and follow Jesus for the flourishing of our city and beyond.

We call those goals Vision 100, and we’re planning on celebrating these on our 100th anniversary in 2026. Here they are:

  • 100% of our Covenant Partners growing as followers of Jesus
  • 10,000 new followers of Jesus here, near, and far
  • 10 new church plants (5 local, 5 strategic partners)
  • 100 leaders raised from the next generation for Christ-centered ministry
  • 1,000,000 hours of prayer

Over the next few weeks, we’ll examine each of these goals and share how they impact you and our community. Thank you for being an integral part of HP Pres’ vision! See you Sunday!

100% Growing

Our first Vision 100 goal is a fundamental building block for the vision of our church. We want to see 100% of our Covenant Partners growing as followers of Jesus.

Following Christ is a continuous journey we are on together. We call this our Discipleship Path, and it looks like this:

Vision 100 - Growing

We want every follower of Jesus to be a leader. Every Christian has the capacity to lead because every Christian influences someone. It’s not about titles, it’s about intentionally pointing others to find and follow Jesus.

Where do you see yourself on the discipleship path? What’s the next step you can take right now to continue growing as a follower of Jesus? We’d like to invite you to Find Your Place at HP Pres and explore your personal discipleship path a little deeper.

10,000 New Followers

This is part three of a series of emails diving into Vision 100 at HP Pres. To read the previous installments, click here.

Our second Vision 100 goal is to see 10,000 New Followers of Jesus here, near, and far based on Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

We break this goal of 10,000 new followers into three categories:

  • 1,000 new followers here. When we say here, we want to see 1,000 new believers committed to following Jesus on our campus at 3821 University Blvd.
  • 1,000 new followers near. When we say near, we mean 1,000 new followers of Jesus from our church plants. Church planting is one of the best ways to reach new people for Jesus and to energize the body of Christ.
  • 8,000 new followers far. When we say far, we want to live out the vision in Revelation 7:9 with the great multitudes from every nation proclaiming the name of Jesus together with our global and local mission partners. Here’s a story of how we are accomplishing this vision through one of our longtime missionaries, Andy Smith.

If you’re exploring the idea of following Jesus, we’d love to talk to you. Reach out to us at hppres.org/connect, and we’ll answer any questions you have about our church or our faith and point you in the right direction for your next step.

10 New Church Plants

Our third Vision 100 Goal is to raise up 10 church plants. We do this because planting churches is the most effective way of reaching a city with the gospel.

Our God-sized dream since 2016 has been to start 5 new churches in our family of churches and support 5 carefully vetted strategic church plants. Take a moment to learn about and pray for each of these endeavors:

Family of Churches

Family of Churches:

  • Peak Street Church—Planted in 2018, Peak Street Church ministers to the residents of Old East Dallas, reaching a primary audience of young professionals navigating a post-modern world. Learn more here.
  • Grace Church Lake Highlands—Founded in 2021, Grace Church Lake Highlands serves the Northeast part of Dallas and has seen tremendous growth in the short time since. Learn more here.
  • Good Shepherd Oak Cliff—The youngest of our church plants, Good Shepherd Oak Cliff, serves the North Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas and has quickly become a loved member of the neighborhood. With less than a year of operation under its belt, Good Shepherd celebrated its first Christmas Eve service with over 100 local guests. Learn more here.

Strategic Church Plants:

    • New Life Brazilian Church—Based in Plano, this partner church plant serves the quickly growing Brazilian population of North Texas. Learn more here.
    • Providencia West Palm Beach—This fellow ECO church and one of our partner churches is actively reaching the people of West Palm Beach. Learn more here.
    • La Paz, Bolivia—The La Paz Project’s vision is to mobilize Bolivian congregations to be church-planting churches. Learn more here.

Not long ago, Peak Street Church, the first church planted under Vision 100, celebrated its 5th anniversary. Learn more about its impact and history in this celebration video.

100 Leaders

The fourth of our five Vision 100 goals is this: we want to see 100 leaders raised from the next generation for Christ-centered ministry. These are gospel-shaped leaders using their Christ-centered faith to influence the culture in the areas where they live, work, and play. Specifically, we have been committed to training 100 next-generation leaders (Millennials and Gen Z) to be pastors, worship leaders, missionaries, non-profit executives, and church planters to help flourish communities in which they belong.

Why is this important? By training young leaders in these faith-based and influential fields, there will be a pipeline for impactful ministry work that will multiply the work of HP Pres today for generations to come in ways we can’t even imagine yet. As an almost 100-year-old church, we have a uniquely long view of ministry. We’ve seen the value in those who have come before us in ministry, and we want to play the same role for those who will come to shape the church after us.

There’s a good chance you’d recognize some of these leaders we’ve been training. We’re grateful for the impact they’ve already made and can’t wait to see how God uses all of these leaders and many more in the years to come.

1,000,000 Hours of Prayer

The fifth, and possibly the most powerful, Vision 100 goal is this: we want to see 1,000,000 hours of prayer. We want to be a church that turns to God first because the rest of our mission and vision would be impossible without a congregation deeply committed to prayer.

Since Vision 100 launched and we committed to offering more opportunities and training for prayer, we’ve seen a tangible change in our church’s posture. Our prayer ministries continue to expand with classes, gatherings, prayer teams, and resources. More importantly, our church is expanding with people who trust in God’s power and seek his will before their own.

If a deep prayer life sounds alien or unapproachable to you, we’d like to invite you to our Teach Me to Pray class, which begins September 10. This class will help you grow in your faith by connecting to God in fresh new ways through prayer. It’s designed for everyone, especially those of us who don’t feel comfortable spending time in prayer.

We also have groups dedicated to prayer, called Prayer Teams, who cover topics such as praying during crisis, healing, and more. Learn more and join a team at hppres.org/prayer. Lastly, if there is a way that we can pray for you, we’d like to know about it. Head to hppres.org/prayer to submit a confidential prayer request.
