Caring for Our Family
Deacon-Led Care Teams Serve Across All Of Our Communities
Our deacons help build up our church community through ministries emphasizing spiritual care, prayer, and connection. They live across all our neighborhoods and are dedicated to helping people find and follow Jesus by ministering to them and offering guidance, love, and support. Our deacons serve on Care Teams, each tasked with caring for our congregation in a different way.
Our Care Teams
The Angel Food team prepares, cooks, and gift-wraps homemade family meals to give to members when they bring a newborn home, have a death in the family, or have a hospitalization or illness in their household. They deliver meals to homes, stopping to visit and pray to encourage and support our church family.
Deacons on the Assisted Living Care Team serve our members who live at three local retirement communities: Presbyterian Village North (PVN), The Tradition, & Edgemere. They host seasonal gatherings for fellowship, visit with members, and help keep them connected to the life of our congregation.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christian 12-Step program to help people overcome “habits, hurts, & hang-ups” that are destructive obstacles to their flourishing. The members of this Care Team have benefited from this program and are eager to help guide others to the same freedom they have found. Learn more at hppres.org/care.
When a new church plant is launched, our deacons are ready to support the work being done in a new part of the city through care, prayer, and connection. These deacons work closely with church-plant pastors and train teams of deacons raised by the local church.
Greif Share is a support group for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Our Griefshare Care Team members know what this feels like, and they make sure that our church family doesn’t have to walk through times like this alone.
Care Team members help our church host funerals and memorial services for members and their families as they grieve the loss of loved ones, celebrate their resurrection, and welcome visitors to our campus.
These deacons help our pastors provide spiritual care for members of our church family through prayer, letter writing, sending care packages, and calling to check in and celebrate milestones. They go on visits to see members who are in the hospital, rehab, or when homebound for a season.
Team members lead Re-Engage, a marriage enrichment course for married couples who want to deepen their relationship with God and grow closer together with one another. Deacons and leader couples are also available to help mentor couples during challenging seasons of life. Learn more at hppres.org/marriage.
