A Faith Expanded
Ben and Lexi came across Church Coffee while searching for a Presbyterian church to attend. After their first visit to the coffee shop, they were excited to attend HP Pres the following Sunday. Months later, they share this has become a place that “expanded our faith and understanding of God’s love.”
Lexi and Ben were both involved in church from an early age but grew tremendously in their faith while in college. Ben’s father is a former pastor and Lexi recalls a piece of advice he gave them, saying “If you notice something missing, maybe that’s your sign from God that you should step into that role.” When their passion for working with college students came up in conversation with leaders in the Young Adult ministry, it was clear that they would be the perfect fit to teach the new Sunday Class for college students.
People in college are often looking for answers to the big questions–What is my purpose? What do I believe? What is my identity? Reflecting on their own faith journeys, Ben and Lexi are praying that this class will help to “equip students during the formative years of their Christian faith to be able to form theologically sound answers to cultural questions and to give biblically based defense for their faith.”
As Christ-followers, we are always expanding our understanding of God, his Word, and our role in this fallen world. God calls us to deeper relationship with him, whether that is through asking the hard questions or stepping into a new role of leadership like Ben and Lexi. There is a place here for all of us to connect with God and his people as we grow in our faith together.
If you are college age and looking for a space to learn, question, and take ownership of your faith, we invite you to join the College Sunday Class at hppres.org/college.
