Highland Students & Parents Mental Health Panel
- When January 29
- Time 6:00 pm
- Location Bell Center
In place of our usual Sunday night programming, we will be hosting two panel events for students in 7th-12th grade, and their parents, on dating and how it impacts mental health. Both the student and parent panels will take a Christian perspective on dating and will discuss how to prevent violence in relationships.
To begin, everyone will gather in the Bell Center for a casual dinner provided by HP Pres. Following the meal, students and parents will break out for discussion time.
Students will stay in the Bell Center to learn from Jordyn Lawson, MA, LPC-S of Genesis Women’s Shelter. Jordyn is the Senior Director of Residential Services and oversees the crisis hotline, intake, advocacy, counseling, and children’s services.
Parents will go upstairs to Alexander Hall with Liza Raynor, LCSW, RPT and Brittany Hooper, JD. Liza is a play therapist and social worker who currently works with abuse survivors and advocates for domestic violence awareness and healthy relationships.
Brittany is an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County in the Family Violence Division. She represents victims seeking protective orders against unsafe partners and family members, and is a previous is a previous staff member and congregant of HP Pres.
